Sr. Financial / Business Analyst - Healthcare

Details: Minimum of 5 years experience is required. I.                     POSITION FUNCTION/OVERALL DESCRIPTION SUMMARY Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the Sr. Business Analyst will be responsible designing, developing and maintaining business critical applications to support the overall performance of the Steward Physician Network.  This position will be key member of CPN improvement team that will focus on improving the financial, quality and service performance.    The improvement team will work with operations directors and finance to identify system and local performance issues and work to identify strategies and track improvement.  In addition, a core function of this role will be to refine and implement a systematic approach to physician productivity and compensation modeling and reporting.  The incumbent will also recommend financial reporting system changes and enhancements, which will help the operations and finance directors better manage and forecast their key operational and financial performance metrics.   II.                JOB RELATIONSHIPS Works closely with various departments including Physician Services, Operations Finance, Administration and Sr Leadership.   III.             AUTHORITY and ACCESS TO SERVICES IV.              PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Creation, production and analysis of ad hoc and standard reports.  Utilization of financial data to improve operational, organizational, and/or provider performance.Providing senior-level support to data analysis efforts that drive financial and operational improvements. Production and analysis of data for physician variable compensation.  Working with department leaders, medical staff and key staff as assigned to assess analysis and reporting needs.  Developing data sources and reports as necessary. Supervise and direct the analysis of financial information detailing, revenue, and expenses, and other reports to summarize current and projected financial position of the CPN practices; specifically utilizing and analyzing all reports and statements to provide consistency and accuracy. Recommends financial reporting system changes that will enable Practice Administrators to improve their use of the systems/reports. Recruits and selects new staff in accordance with departmental needs. Ability to generate a quality work product in a timely manner while maintaining a strong attention to detail; V.                  REPORTING REQUIREMENTS Reports to the COO VI.                ACCOUNTABILITY To ensure systems are in place to perform accurate analysis of financial information detailing, revenue, and expenses, and other reports to summarize current and projected financial position of the CPN practices.  Refine and maintain MD compensation modeling and reporting and identifying cost cutting techniques as well as professional revenue fluctuations and opportunities for improvement. VII.              MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS and EXPEREIENCE 7+ years progressive work experience in healthcare financial/budget setting. Bachelor’s degree in health care related field, information systems, or business management; master’s degree preferred. Significant experience with Microsoft Reporting Services, Excel, Crystal Reports, or MS Access. Proficient with SQL queries/procedures and understands data modeling and relational database design. Strong analytical, trouble-shooting and communication skills, and proficient with quality improvement methods and statistical analysis. Experience combining clinical and financial data.  Strong background in compiling data, creating reports and displaying information; Proven ability to extract and synthesize data; conduct and interpret quantitative and qualitative analyses Problem solving, analytical ability and interpersonal skills are important to perform successfully in this position.  Must be able to function independently and to manage multiple projects and to meet established deadlines.  Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility to changes and responses to new ideas and approaches Expertise in Budgeting/Planning and Position Control Working experience in General Ledger and Business Analytics Strong understanding of financial concepts as well as advanced financial and/or managed care/provider contract modeling experience a plus  Steward Physician Network is an equal opportunity employer
