Director, Controller

Details: Director, Controller Pourshins and Supplair specialize in the sourcing, packaging and distribution of food and beverage products for the traveling passenger. The main customers are airlines, principally in North America and Europe. Both brands are wholly owned subsidiaries of gategroup Holding AG, which is publicly listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange. gategroup’s portfolio of 11 brands integrates the world-class competencies of different companies in three major areas – catering and hospitality, airport handling and logistics, and in-flight solutions. We are currently looking for a Director, Controller to join our Finance team based in Reston, VA.  This position is responsible for the overall accuracy in financial reporting, analysis and control of the North American business for both Pourshins and Supplair.  This position reports to the CFO of Pourshins and Supplair who is based in Europe with a dotted line to the Vice President and Managing Director of Pourshins and Supplair North America.  Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Works closely with the functional managers to establish best practices to ensure the high level of accuracy and efficiently of the financial operations of the company.Maintains accounting records in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and USGAAP and ensure compliance with all international accounting standards.Manages North American AR/AP group and takes full responsibility of all aspects of financial reporting. This covers detailed monthly management reports, weekly cash flows, group reporting as well as all statutory and regulatory reports.  Leads and performs profitability analyses including customer and line of business assessments; produce Monthly Customer Profitability Reports.  Financial responsibility of customer tender (RFI and RFP) responses.   This will involve the generation of comprehensive financial projections including detailed understanding of costs and margin, establishing and communicating internal response time-line and key milestones, reviewing and coordinating with group legal proposed contractual terms, coordinating with group commercial, drafting alternatives for commercial negotiations, developing internal and external response documents, briefing the senior management team on proposal details, terms and related strategic issues.  Identifies, constructs and completes financial analyses for profit enhancing opportunities and strategies, proposed changes to internal processes, and new business strategies.  Manage the annual budget and quarterly forecast process for Pourshins and Supplair NA. Develop regional annual budget targets, analyze year-over-year and forecast-to-forecast changes, and provide high-level summary reports to senior management.  Manages and coordinate across multiple functional corporate groups all aspects of the business to ensure corporate policy and procedure compliance.Responsible for financial processes and control.  Assists Managing Director with overall business management and support North America senior leadership in day-to-day business activities.  Works with Ms Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Accounting Software, such as Hyperion Financial Management.Oversees the support and training of staff membersMentors upcoming managers for succession planningPerforms responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.Education:Bachelor degree in Accounting or a related field from a four-year university or college required. Master degree in Business Administration or Finance preferred. Work Experience:Minimum of 10 years of corporate accounting experience including accounts payable, budgeting and forecasting.Minimum of 7 years of supervisory and management experience required.Experience working with a company who abides by international accounting standards (IAS) preferred.Previous experience coordinating the reporting process of multiple companies / business units including the consolidation of pro-forma financial statements in foreign currencies required Experience with Hyperion Financial Management and SAP Business Warehouse preferred Experience with key US Airline systems preferred Job Skills:Solid understanding of general accounting practices including accounts payable, tax, budgeting and forecasting.Strong analytical and operational accounting and finance skills.Solid understanding of billing management, collections, customer credits, etc.Knowledge of and experience in the US airline industry with food and beverage related logistics experience preferred.Dedication and an exceptional work ethic.Experience managing analyst level resources in a high profile, complex and fast paced environment.Strong customer relationship building skills with both internal and external customers.Must have strong technical knowledge and exposure to US GAAP and IFRSBroad knowledge of finance, controlling and cash management required  Advanced Microsoft Excel skillsDemonstrated SAP or similar ERP system skillsCommunication Skills:Must have excellent written and oral communication skills across all levels of the organization and with our internal and external customers.Ability to manage and lead manager and project team members.Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required Travel:Possibility of up to 25% of the timeEnvironmental Requirements:Ability to work extended hours as need and overall ability to work a flexible scheduleDemonstrated Competencies to be Successful in the Position:Thinking - Information search and analysis, problem resolution skillsEngaging - understanding others, team leadership, developing peopleInspiring - influencing and building relationships, motivating and inspiring, communicating effectivelyAchieving - delivering business results under pressure, championing performance improvement, customer focusThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the individual(s) assigned to this position.
